ABOUT US

Art is one of the most powerful tools of communication, it is one of the most direct and visceral ways of speaking to people across boarders, and barriers; it can motivate, it can empower, it can create new ways of thinking and can open people’s minds.

One Billion Rising, the new initiative of Eve Ensler, Tony Award winning author of the Vagina Monologues, is a campaign that seeks to end violence towards women and girls. OBR UK Art Festival brings together artists, performers, dancers, poets and playwrights, in unity against violence. Once we are aware of something we can begin to change it.

The 14th of February 2013 will mark the 15th anniversary of V-day, Eve Ensler's foundation to help women victims of violence around the world. One Billion Rising celebrates that day making a stand against violence towards women, which is why this year we are reaching out to as many organizations as we can. This year we will be working with museums and galleries across the nation, putting on exhibitions that highlight the issues at stake.

We will be having dance parties in institutions, and cultural centers in unity against violence. Working with established seminal artists such as Judy Chicago, as well as emerging talent OBR UK Art Festival will be putting on exhibitions, film screenings and a series of talks, using art and culture to help us rethink our social structures. JOIN US!
